Software development studio
Swift Elm designs, builds and maintains web applications, APIs, integrations and internal tools. We also take on older systems that need careful modernising without stopping the business that depends on them.

We work on new products and on software that already exists. We choose well-supported, widely used tools so the next developer, on your team or ours, can pick the code up without a guide.
Customer-facing products and portals, from the first usable version through later rounds of features. Accessible interfaces, sensible data models and deployments you can repeat.
APIs designed for the people who will call them, and integrations between the systems you already pay for, such as CRM, payments, accounting and logistics tools. Retries, logging and clear failure handling come as standard.
Admin panels, back-office workflows and reporting screens that replace spreadsheets and copy-and-paste. Built around how your team actually works, with permissions and audit trails where they matter.
Older systems moved onto supported technology in stages, while the business keeps running. We start by reading the code and writing tests around what it does today, then replace it one piece at a time.
Dependency and security updates, monitoring, bug fixes and small improvements under an agreed ongoing arrangement, for software we built or software you already have.
Describe the problem rather than the solution. We will tell you plainly whether we are the right people to solve it.

The same four steps for a new build, an integration or a rescue of an older system. You always know what we are doing and why.
Email us a short description of the system and what needs to change. We reply with questions and, if it looks like a fit, arrange a call.
We read the existing code and documentation, talk to the people who use the system, and send a written scope: what we will build, what we will not, the risks we see and how we would sequence the work.
Work happens in short cycles, in your repository and your accounts. You see working software regularly rather than a big reveal at the end, and you can change priorities between cycles.
Every piece of work ends with documentation, tests and deployment notes your own team can use. If you want us to stay on, we move to ongoing maintenance.
